Danger Zone's bad gyal, Ce'Cile has teamed up with renowned producer Scott Storch in collaboration with Beenie Man on the track titled So Fly. The track comes out of the continued relationship with Danger Zone and SoBe Entertainment. Storch, known for his wicked instrumentals and credited with hits such as Lean Back by Fat Joe, Candy Shop and Just a Lil' Bit by 50 Cent as well as Baby Boy by Beyonce and Sean Paul, has also produced for a variety of artists including Dr. Dre, Fat Joe, Nelly, Jadakiss, Christina Aguilera, Nas, Lil Wayne, 50 Cent, Beyoncé, Brooke Hogan, The Game, Chamillionaire, Chris Brown and many more.

REGGAE ON THE RIVER ECO MUSIC FESTIVAL

Lauren Drummond, President of LMJ Productions, LLC and Executive Producer of Upstate Reggae on the River Eco Music Festival announced today that noted Caribbean producer, Victor E Lewis, Managing Director of VicRae Inc., will lead the production team of the first annual Upstate Reggae on the River Eco Music Festival at Croton Point Park, Croton-on-Hudson, New York scheduled for August 23, 2008 from 10 AM – 8 PM.

Mr. Lewis is credited with having generated more than $3 million in annual revenues based on performance fees for emerging artists under his representation. A visionary and is instrumental organizer of international entertainment events and has an excellent track record. As a producer, Mr. Lewis has managed successful public events in London , Iceland and various parts of the US . He has produced events for the U.S. Committee for Refugees, notably worked effectively with the NYPD/NYFD’s 911 Emergency Fund and Upliftment Jamaica just to name a couple of his successes.

Upstate Reggae on the River Eco Music Festival is an all-day family event that features the "Messenger" roots Reggae icon Luciano with Jah Messenjah band, featuring special guest Mikey General, as well as new sensations Rootz Underground, actor/musician Leon and the People's Band, Latin Rock Band Sequida, and Mystic Dub with more to be announced. A key component of Upstate Reggae on the River Eco Music Festival is a Children’s Pavilion where Lydia Adams Davis and Grammy Award winner, John Guth will perform. Our Art Pavilion will feature various local and international artists. Carlos “GoGo” Gomez presents an African/Cuban drum circle workshop and an environmental work shop for all ages. A multitude of vendors will be on hand with foods from all over the Caribbean and Latin America as well as a variety of arts and crafts.

The first annual Upstate Reggae on the River Eco Music Festival will help increase awareness of environmental concerns and the preservation and sustainability effort in the Hudson Valley New York region. This years theme is “Recycling to Save the Planet.” this one day event represents a tapestry of various genres of music, art, culture woven to support the message that in order to preserve the environment we must come together to create eco-friendly environments. LMJ Productions, LLC will donate part of the proceeds to Upstate Reggae on the River Inc., a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation to deserving educational and environmental organizations.

Serani Inks Two-album Deal

One of dancehall's hottest new artistes, Craig 'Serani' Marsh, has signed a two-album deal with Japan label JVC Entertainment. The producer, now turned singer, says, "It's exciting for me because since I took the decision to add singing to my repertoire, the response has been great."
Serani gained public recognition as a singer when collaborated with Bugle and Movado with hit singles Doh and Dying respectively.

After reaping success there, Serani went on to record a number of other hit songs, among them, Stinking Rich, She Loves Me and Study People. According to Serani, "people have taken on to my songs very quickly, which I am very thankful for." Now, as Serani focuses his attention on his new two-album deal in Japan, he will be moving full speed ahead to ensure the success of these albums. He admitted to being, "very driven, when it comes on to music whichever aspect I am devoted to, making dancehall and reggae bigger worldwide."

Jamaica Music Industry ‘4ever’ Indebted

On Sunday, May 4 the Dodd Family invites all to commemorate the fourth anniversary of the life of Clement "Coxon" Dodd, dubbed the "Father of the Jamaican Music Industry." From the four corners of the globe the interest in the preservation, protection and promotion of his life’s work has been of the highest order, knowing the seminal role that it has and will continue to play for generations to come.

Through his lifetime he witnessed the transmission of Jamaican musical culture to the four corners of the globe with little direct benefit to the 'folk' of Jamaica as creators and inspirers. However, the ultimate emergence of the Jamaica Recording and Publishing Company has presented the opportunity to re-invent and preserve the wheel of creative expressions.

As such the Dodd Family is embarking on what is currently known as a 360 Degrees Project of his work that will be built on the storytelling of this legendary tale of creative expression that will be layered into the current music industry mode of digital infrastructure and delivery and expressed through publishing, merchandising, films and events.

Through this historical maze, the unfolding of the music catalog will take place that will re-align its original purpose and intellectual property rights in a manner befitting the role that this body of work has played and continues to play for the Jamaican people and culture. This will be done in partnership with various local and international firms with the one caveat being that the expression and the will of the Jamaican people, that this is their ‘Island In The Sun’ will be upheld.

Its unfolding in 2009 will kick off the proposed national celebration of 50 Years of Reggae Music, with a January 26, 2009, birthday unveiling of the commissioned bust and the launch of the development of the Studio One Museum, itself a multi-layered experience.

Nickeishia Barnes: Perseverance Personified

Nickeishia Barnes learned to turn to music to help her get through life’s difficult times at an early age and it has proved to be her strength. In 1996, she entered the much-famed Tastee Talent Competition solo, and on this first attempt, made it all the way to the quarter-finals. Two years later, she was back again, as a group. The group made it as far as the quarter finals as well and even without the first prize winnings she took away valuable lessons from the competition which has served her well.

Eventually, she evolved from this to a more serious involvement with music her brother Christopher ‘Escobar’ Barnes. After enrolling at the University of West Indies where she became somewhat distracted from the music for a while. Concerned friends encouraged her everyday to return to music, and not sit down on her immense singing talent. The words took time, but eventually bore fruit.

The extremely popular televised 2006 Digicel Rising Stars Competition effectively cemented her reputation as a talented performer, singer and songwriter. Since placing second in the competition in 2006, Nickeishia has recorded a number of songs in her very short yet rapidly climbing career. (including song entitled In Love receiving heavy rotation on the air waves).

She has worked with musical geniuses Sly and Robbie and Horace Murphy, along with the Penthouse family, which has built her skills and stockpiling an armada of hits to release gradually to the public. Nickeisha has set high goals in attaining optimum success in the local and international music industry. In addition to singing and songwriting, she has plans to enter the world of artiste management, concert production and other related field.

Funeral Arrangements for Cedella Marley Booker

The funeral arrangements for Cedella Marley Booker, mother of Reggae icon Bob Marley, are set to take place in Jamaica, between Sunday, April 27 and Monday, April 28. Mother Booker, as she was affectionately known, died on Tuesday, April 8 at her South Miami, Florida home. She was 81 years old.

The two day activities surrounding the celebration of her life and achievements will commence with a public viewing at the National Arena in Kingston on Sunday, April 27 between 10 a.m. and 3:p.m., and the funeral service at the Ethiopian Orthodox Church on Monday, April 28 commencing at 8:00 a.m.

At the public viewing on Sunday, musicians and singers will pay tribute to her love of music and her achievements. The final service will take place at the Ethiopian Orthodox Church on Maxfield Avenue, commencing at 8:00 a.m., where the service will be officiated by Father Haile Malekat Dobson, Administrator of the Ethopian Orthodox Church in Jamaica. The procession will then journey to Nine Miles for the interment where she will be laid to rest in the garden next to her son’s Masoleum.

Cedella Marley Booker has recorded solo and collaboration albums, performed in the U.S., Jamaica, Europe, Mexico, and Africa, and authored a book, Bob Marley, My Son.

Mother B is well known for her philanthropy both in Jamaica, the wider Caribbean and in South Florida. She has adopted the Basic School at Nine Mile in St. Ann, renamed the Cedella Marley Booker Academy. Both Mrs. Booker and her son Bob Marley were born in Nine Miles. She is also associated with Rhoden Hall Basic School and Eight Mile Basic School in St. Ann.

Her son Richard Booker said of his mother: “My mother is a rare woman, loved by everyone she met. I know that she is in the hands of Jah and will never be forgotten here on earth.”
A Rastafarian by faith, Cedella Booker showed the world a peacefulness and love that she openly shared with all those who surrounded her. In the spirit of Bob Marley, Mother Booker founded Movement of Jah People, an organization that benefits the underprivileged in South Florida and the Caribbean.

She is survived by daughter Pearl Livingston, son Richard Booker, daughters-in-law Rita Marley and Sharien Fogle-Booker, nieces, nephews, 14 grandchildren, and 49 great-grandchildren.

TEAM JAMAICA TRODS THE ROOTS ROCKING ROAD TO BEIJING

Team Jamaica is off to a Roots rocking start on the road to the annual Penn Relays in Philadelphia this weekend, thanks to Reggae legend Cocoa Tea and his musical brethren who rocked Brooklyn College’s Walt Whitman Theater this past Sunday for the ‘Team Jamaica on the Road to Beijing’ Reggae Charity Concert. Presented by Team Jamaica Bickle and VP Records, scores of Reggae fans were treated to the drum and bass sounds of the island, while raising much needed capital to fund Jamaica’s track and field athletes at Penn, and on their journey to dominate the XXIX Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, China this August.

“This year is tough, especially with the added responsibility of supporting Team Jamaica in Beijing,” states TJB President Irwine Clare. “So TJB challenged the Reggae fraternity to donate their talents to supporting the athletic fraternity, and I must say we are very pleased—kudos to Chris Chin and the VP family, and all of the artists who made this event a wonderful success.”

For the 1st annual staging, Roots Reggae newcomers Jamelody, Duane Stephenson, and ‘The Strong One’ Etana, thrilled supporters with a mix of Reggae and R&B standards and brand new singles off their upcoming albums. Critically acclaimed singer Gyptian, who happened to hear of the concert the day before, made a totally unexpected cameo appearance that had the audience screaming in delight during a brief fashion presentation by Yardman Style Clothing.

“I am really surprised and impressed with this younger generation of performers here tonight,” states Sirius Satellite Radio’s Pat McKay, after taking in the early performances. “Their music is so powerful and uplifting, and I am so proud of them for lending such a powerful voice to such a worthy cause.”

Veteran Lover’s Rock crooner Richie Stephens was in rare form, keeping the audience on edge with his signature baritone, belting out tune after tune from his catalogue of classics, including the crowd-favorite cover of Dennis Brown’s “Should I,” and his Jamaica Tourist Board anthem “Come to Jamaica.”

Headliner Cocoa Tea brought the house down, pulling from his catalogue of hits songs spanning the past two decades. From “Who She Love” to “Riker’s Island,” to “Too Young,” the audience sang every word of every song with him. He earned a deafening forward from the crowd as he closed the show with his internationally applauded hit “Barack Obama,” a musical endorsement to the Democratic presidential contender.

The event will be aired on BET and BETJ in the coming weeks.

The event’s special guests include: Jamaican Ambassador to the United States Anthony Johnson, Consul General of Jamaica, NY Geneive Brown-Metzger, internationally recognized model Camille McDonald, legenday radio personalities and concert MCs Conroy Allison and Pat McKay, Sabrina Hosang of Caribbean Food Delights, and David “Squeeze” Annakie of LinkUp Media.

Part proceeds from the “Team Jamaica on the Road to Beijing” Reggae Charity concert will assist TJB in providing subsidized travel and accommodations, meals, ground transportation, and athletic scholarships to Jamaica’s outstanding high school track and field athletes. Past Team Jamaica Bickle alums include Olympic Gold Medalist Veronica Campbell, often dubbed ‘the world's fastest woman;’ Olympic Gold Medalist Sherone Simpson; World Championship Silver Medalist Usain "Lightening" Bolt; and Olympian Aileen Bailey, sister of Dancehall legend Capleton.

Part proceeds will also be donated in memory of Olympic Gold Medalist Herb McKenley, to providing financial assistance to Jamaica’s national track and field team competing in the Summer Olympics in China.

Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall Delivers

Patrons from as far as May Pen and Negril descended on the Weekenz Bistro and Bar to watch the crowning of the ultimate Magnum King and Queen of Dancehall. Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall has, for the past fifteen weeks, been exposing new and diverse talent to the masses. The success of the show has vindicated the decision by the producers and the sponsors of the competition to invest millions of dollars to expose true Jamaican Sing-Jays and Dee-Jays to a world audience.

Throughout the past fifteen weeks, dozens of contestants from all parts of the island were whittled down to a final four who came to the Weekenz Bistro and Bar to vie for the crown in one final clash. The night began with the last ten finalists taking the stage and presenting some of the tunes that have allowed them to enter the hearts of many Jamaicans. Of note was the performance of Tellah who, eliminated on April 12th had the large crowd eating out of her hands with her captivating performance and Singer Jah who announced his arrival on stage by shouting "Rasta, Rasta, Rasta" causing the crowd to roar with excitement.

There were also cameos from mainstream artistes who came out to give their support to the young talent. Assassin graced the stage with his usual energetic performance and Ginjah pleased the audience by doing a rendition of his hit Rough Times with his brother and eventual winner Singer Jah.

Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall has been accepted by all levels of the society and people from all corners of the island were on location cheering on their favourite of the top four.

The presentation of the winners of the Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall was filled with pomp and pageantry with Singer Jah and Baby Tash being Crown and presented with their rings by the Minister of Culture. Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall presented the two winners with half a million dollars each and will sponsor the production of a single and a video to kick start their careers. It was a regal affair the type never before seen in a competition on Jamaican prime time television.

The King and Queen: Singer Jah and Baby Tash now reign supreme over their competitors having amassed the wide support of Jamaicans all over the country. Based on this overwhelming support for the competition and the contestants, the producers are planning to make Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall 2008/2009 bigger and better.

JUNIOR REID ENTERS THE DANGER ZONE

Junior Reid's signing with The Danger Zone Music Group / SoBe Entertainment will soon bear fruit with the impending release of his latest album: Junior Reid: The Living Legend to be released through The Danger Zone Music Group / SoBe Entertainment and Leak Records. Junior Reid has for over three decades been a regular staple in the reggae and dancehall realm. Beginning his career in the late nineteen seventies when he released tracks such as Human Nature, A1 Lover, and See How Me Black See How Me Shine, Junior Reid has now begun writing a new chapter is his impressive musical history.

Over the years Junior Reid has widened his horizons; his vocals have been used extensively on the hip hop scene. Noted for his collaboration with West Coast hip hop artist The Game on the Billboard hit It's Okay (One Blood), Reid has also appeared on 'Mims' This Is Why I'm Hot (Remix), Fabolous' album From Nothin' to Somethin on the track Gangsta Don't Play and Fat Joe's track More Money to name a few. Richie's Plane Lands

Culture reggae star Richie Spice's commentary on a social crisis affecting Caribbean immigrants during air travel to the States is getting worldwide attention in the video for his new single, "The Plane Land." The hit tune is the first single from his upcoming album, Gideon Boot, set for a May 13th release on VP Records/Fifth Element.

Hailing from a musical family that has also produced reggae artists Pliers, Spanner Banner and Snatcha Lion, Richie's reggae roots run deep. His last album, In The Streets to Africa (VP, 2007), brought him international attention from the mainstream masses with the breakout hit "Brown Skin," a romantic twist from the singer.With the debut of this single, Richie Spice takes a more serious turn as he laments on the common misperceptions and stereotypes immigrants endure while traveling to America. With special emphasis on the plight of his own people, he examines how they are easy targets for searches and interrogations, as they are often suspected of smuggling marijuana into the country.

The video uses news footage of actual security activity at U.S. airports, and sees a special appearance from New York's FOX News anchor John Gray, who introduces the video. More than a solid musical composition, Richie Spice manages to effectively shed light on a delicate situation that affects the best of us.

The video sees cameo appearances from The New Kingston Band, brother Snatcha Lion, model Valentine Baker, and publicist Raine Martin. It was directed by Rhona Fox, and shot on location in Brooklyn, New York.

COCOA TEA TAPPED TO SEND 'TEAM JAMAICA ON THE ROAD TO BEIJING'

Roots Legend Cocoa Tea has just been added to the line-up of Reggae entertainers that will send 'Team Jamaica on the Road to Beijing.' Presented by Team Jamaica Bickle in association with VP Records, the 'Team Jamaica on the Road to Beijing' Reggae Charity Concert is raising funds to support Jamaican track & field high school athletes competing in the annual Penn Relays competition at the University of Pennsylvania in April, and to support Jamaican athletes participating in the XXIX Olympic Games in Beijing, China this August.

Cocoa Tea, who is making international headlines with his song "Barack Obama," is set to excite scores of Reggae fans with this new hit and his catalogue of classics including "Tune In," and "Riker's Island." He will be joining an all-star cast of Reggae talents which includes Richie Stephens, Etana, Duane Stephenson, and Jah Melody at Brooklyn College's Walt Whitman Theater on Sunday April 20th.

Vowing to do "anything I can to support Jamaica," Cocoa Tea strongly urges Reggae fans to support the 'Team Jamaica on the Road to Beijing' concert.

Danger Zone Takes A Journey

Danger Zone's Journey's Riddim has now been officially released and like the pre-released version, which was premiered in the last quarter of 2007, the riddim has attracted support from a wide cross section of the music fraternity and been hailed as one of the best riddims presently on the airwaves. Danger Zone has added some tantalizing instrumentals to the pre-released version and the final product can only be described as immaculate. The Journey's Riddim was produced by Della Danger, Ce'Cile and Jigsy King of Danger Zone Records.

Danger Zone artistes have five songs on the production: Cutty Corn returns with Poochie Loo, Jigsy King and Tony Curtis team up again to present Show Off, Ce'Cile and Jigsy King Plant It, Jah Cure continues his musical Journey and Ce'Cile pledges to Ride or Die. All five tracks boast the high quality and superb production that Danger Zone has become known for.

With Journey, Jah Cure continues to impress with his amazing vocal capabilities. Jah Cure seeks to teach the importance on maintaining ones focus despite the difficulties. He advises not to burn bridges while explaining to his fans that "It's not a journey to get weak". Who better to present this message than the singer who has been through and risen through so many adversities?
Jigsy King and Tony Curtis also teach important lessons on surviving the journey on their track Show Off. Jigsy Kings and Tony Curtis make a good team with their vocals, complementing each other perfectly. Show Off is the first release by Jigsy for 2008 and is a good follow up to Pon di Corner which commanded the airwaves last year.

One of the other gems on the Journey's Riddim by Danger Zone is Ride or Die by Ce'Cile. Ride of Die presents Ce'Cile in a new flavour; the artiste who is known for her sometimes controversial dancehall tunes returns with a smooth and lyrically superior track.

"The Journey's project reminds me of the Jamdown project, I say this because of people's positive reactions to the production. I think my track Ride or Die and the video, which will drop next month, will continue to put me on another level with the fans especially the male ones" – Ce'Cile, Recording Artiste and co producer of Riddim.

Also featuring on the Journey's Riddim is Cutty Corn with his track Poochie Loo. Poochie Loo signals the maturity of the young Cutty Corn. The artiste who came on the scene in 2008 with Lucky Day on the Jamdown Riddim and then reaffirmed his position as a reggae and dancehall staple with No Boops on the remake of the Solidarity Riddim holds his own with Poochie Loo.

An added bonus on the Journey's Riddim is Ce'Cile and Jigsy King with what can be considered a masterpiece. Ce'Cile and Jigsy King decide to Plant It. Contrary to generic run of the mill weed songs, Plant it presents itself as a succinct ode to the herb and Ce'Cile and Jigsy King's are at one on the track with Ce'Cile's sexy tones and Jigsy's gritty choral blending to make an intoxicating collaboration.

Top nominees for 27th IRAWMA

The prestigious 27th Annual International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA), produced by Martin’s International & Associates, LLC is dedicated to health awareness and returns to Harlem at the world famous Apollo Theater, located at 253 West 125th Street, NYC, on Sunday, May 4. A VIP reception begins at 6:00 pm and general admission is at 7:00 pm.

Leading with IRAWMA’s most nominations for 2007 is Tarrus Riley, with a mega seven (7) nods, including Best Male Vocalist and Best Song, for the female anthem She’s Royal. Gangster DJ Mavado has five (5) nods from IRAWMA for Best Male DJ, Best Album, Best Recording Artist(s), Songwriter of the Year, and Community Service. Beenie Man, Buju Banton, Steven Marley, Shaggy, and Sean Kingston all received four (4) nominations, while Kymani Marley, Junior Reid and Soca star Machel Montano each received three (3) nominations. Reid, competing against himself, is nominated twice in the same category -- Best Crossover -- for his hits with Alicia Keys and rapper MIMS.

The official New York Press Conference was held Thursday March 27, to a packed house at club Element in Manhattan. Hosted by veteran vocalist Sheila Hylton, Ephraim Martin of Martin’s International & Associates and Andrew Rowe of American Airlines announced the nominees, performers and sponsors. International performing artists, promoters and various media organizations were in attendance at the standing-room only event. An official announcement of the nominees was made previously this month, at the Hilton Hotel in New Kingston, Jamaica. Other IRAWMA representatives at the press conference were Directors Clifton Edwards and Austin McBean.

Ephraim Martin announced that the preliminary list of performers are Beenie Man, Kymani Marley, Doug E. Fresh, Sean Kingston, Tarrus Riley, Etana, Dean Fraser, Winsome Benjamin , D’Angel, Queen Ifrika, Mutabaruka, Cecile, Junior Reid and Dwight Pickney. Buju Banton will be among the presenters for the star studded event. More performers will be announced at a later date.

Miami's longest running Memorial Weekend reggae concert, Best Of The Best 2008 will jump off on Sunday May 25 at Bicentennial Park (1075 Biscayne Blvd.) in bustling downtown Miami. "We all grew up listening to Super Cat," says Rocker's Island CEO Joseph "Budafuco" Louis, "so this is a huge honor for us to bring him down to Florida for our annual event." The occasion will be Mr. Cat's first outdoor park show ever in North America.

Born and raised in the rough and tumble streets of Cockburn Pen in Kingston, Super Cat aka the Wild Apache bumrushed the dancehall fraternity of the mid-1980s with a spree of hits like: Boops, Mud Up, and Sweet For My Sweet. He was one of the first Jamaican deejays to bust in the US market and signed a major label deal with Columbia records in the early '90s, enjoying success with several smash hits including Dem No Worry We, Don Dada and Dolly My Baby.

Super Cat also helped pioneer the fusion of Hip-Hop and Reggae and R&B and Reggae, regularly collaborating with then-rising stars P. Diddy, Heavy D, Mary J. Blige and Notorious B.I.G. The annual Easter festivities in Ocho Rios concluded at a pinnacle on Sunday, March 23 as the super inclusive Luau (the Hawaiian precursor to Absolute Temptation Isle) left patrons completely satisfied and full of anticipation for the event filled emancipation weekend this summer in Negril also hosted by Absolute Entertainment. Every year Absolute Entertainment surprises patrons with new and improved innovations to enhance their party experience. This year was no different as the 10th staging of Luau saw patrons enjoying eight hours of extraordinary culinary delicacies, musical juggling from the best sound systems locally and internationally at the exotic Reggae Beach, commencing at a new time; 4pm-midnight.

Even with scattered showers on the afternoon of the event there was a record breaking turnout of loyal luau-goers to enjoy the unique remixes of the Florida-Based Black Chiney, Excaliber from Trinidad and Tobago and the sound system that carries the heartbeat of Kingston, Renaissance. On entering the venue, the first thing that caught the patrons’ eyes was a bar stationed in the ocean with a ramp emerging from the shore to ensure safe and easy access to all beverages desired by those who dared to heighten their beverage intake on the waves of the calm ocean. A total of four well-staked bars strategically located throughout the venue had all getting their beverage request granted at a comfortable pace.

Patrons salivated as they formed fast moving lines to get a taste of the appetizing items presented for the taking. At various segments of the event different types of food were displayed. Local and regional favorites, jerk chicken and pork and roti, seafood specials and various pastas were consumed the fastest. Hotdogs and hamburgers were available for quick bite breaks with bun and cheese as compliments of the season. The seashore blazed as patrons and flames from the bonfire danced on the sand. Blow up beds were also placed on the seashore to facilitate a fun-filled atmosphere which the efficient security personnel ensured was safe from threatening disturbances.

At approximately 12:30am, patrons streamed out of the venue with smiling faces as the DJ announced the after party at Hard Rock Café. Absolute Entertainment has once again raised the bar they have set for the execution of another absolute adventure for Easter Weekend. Patrons can therefore be confident that the 2008 Absolute Temptation Isle from July 31st - August 4th will not fall short of being absolutely entertaining.

Assassin Sets Aim on new tracks

Assassin has been busy in the studio working on some new material to keep his insatiable fans satisfied. With the production expertise of Daseca Productions, Ward 21 and Don Corleon, his new releases are guaranteed to make you “bump-your-head-to-this-track”.

Same Ting Again is a production of Coby from the Daseca camp and sees Assassin flexing his muscles on a Reggae/Hip Hop fusion. He explores the routines of daily life – ghetto people struggles are never-ending and even though there’s no money, they’re still experiencing problems. Surveillance is another song that is done under Daseca Productions and speaks to those men who are ever keen to their women’s every move.

Badness Nah Wear shows off Assassin’s dexterity where he tackles a serious issue, courtesy of Ward 21. Assassin acknowledges that “Reggae and Dancehall music glorifies guns and violence and it is not the absolute reason for what we see happening in society”. However, he does admit that there is the legitimacy of the “gangsta” factor, where music touts it as fashionable and so with Badness Nah Wear, he completely dispels this idea.

His latest tune with Don Corleon Records, The 1 Way is one that Assassin failed to expound upon. Instead, he cheekily invites his fans to make their own interpretations of the song as he left it open to their imaginations.

His other recordings, Money Machine (featuring Sadiki) and Dem Nah Look Nuh Gal, have been gaining momentum in the streets and have become the theme song of many.

Assassin tries to do songs that are relatable. He uniquely and adequately transforms issues discussed around domino tables and adds his own artistic twist to it. The end-product is an undeniably catchy song that just makes you want to simply, “bump-your-head-to-this-track”.
